OUR MISSION
Better educated owners, better lives for dogs
Good Owners is a pet parent education organization founded in 2021 with a simple goal: provide easier access to consistent, reliable information for the 7.4 million guardians every month - 1 in 9 dog households in the US - struggling to be successful in their lives with their canine companions. Today, parents struggle to wade through scattered, contradictory information on Google, Facebook, and social media. As a result, only a few hundred thousand - out of a population of over 90 million - succeed in finding their way to the tools they need to succeed, whether that’s classes, trainers, or any of the other great learning resources out there.
To address that challenge, we interviewed hundreds of those ‘average, 95%’ pet parents to understand where their gaps are, how they approach learning, and why today’s resources aren’t reaching them. Working with experienced, field-leading trainers and dog professionals from around the country, we built the Guide to Dogs - a new kind of dog knowledge platform: a comprehensive reference, ecosystem, and jumping-off point designed to give average, everyday pet dog parents (a) a reliable place to consistently start, and (b) steer more of them into the fantastic ecosystem of classes, trainers, and wonderful learning resources out there.
